The Story Behind Myscar
Following an emergency caesarean section, Myscar founder Lara Hofer was left with an unexpected scar — and little to no support. When she searched for scar recovery solutions, she was met with disheartening responses like:
"It's a scar, there's nothing you can do,"
"You'll get used to it,"
"Just leave it,"
"It will be fine."
At the time, rehabilitation of scars in New Zealand was virtually non-existent.
Determined to find a better way, Lara spent years researching scar recovery, working closely with preferred manufacturers, and securing all necessary medical and legal approvals. What started as a personal need became a mission — and eventually led to the launch of Myscar, the first-of-its-kind premium medical-grade silicone scar strips in New Zealand.

How Myscar Works
Myscar’s silicone strips create a protective, second-skin-like environment that supports your body’s natural healing processes. They work through three key mechanisms:
Promotes Hydration
When a scar forms, the body often goes into a “panic” response—losing too much moisture and producing excess collagen. Myscar strips reduce moisture loss, maintaining optimal hydration. This hydration helps to:

Provides Gentle Compression
The soft, flexible silicone applies a comfortable compression to the scar and surrounding skin. This gentle pressure helps keep the scar:

How to Use
- Begin use 6–8 weeks post-birth or post-surgery, once approved by your doctor.
- Ensure sutures are removed and the skin is healed.
- Clean and dry the scar area (remove any hair if possible).
- Apply the adhesive side directly to the scar.
- Wear for 4–8 hours/day at first, then build up to 12–24 hours/day.
- Recommended use: at least 12 hours/day for 3–6 months (up to 12+ months for optimal results).
- Remove before bathing, showering, or swimming.
